A Seahawks Game
I got to go to my first Seattle Seahawks game tonight courtesy of our database vendor, Oracle. We had awesome seats (4th row on the 40), perfect weather (low fog and rain), but the guy next to me was the most obnoxious asshole I've ever met. He was a drunk, substantially overweight 30 something that screamed on the cell phone with his wife and daughter the entire game. Not only did he scream at the players while on the phone but he was arguing so much with his wife that the players kept looking back at my row laughing at him. I almost dreaded a score or great play by the 'Hawks because we would just go nuts and try to high five me. I felt so bad for his wife and daughter on the other line. The poor bastard paid $185 for his seat from a scalper. And from what I could clean from his conversation, he didn't have that $185.
Other than him, the game was great ('Hawks beat the St. Louis Rams 31-16) and it was actually fun to be in the cold rain. It's hard to believe that was my first Seahawks game since moving to Seattle and unfortunately, I forgot (gasp!) my digital camera :(

Almost Live! Reunion special
[EDIT 9/14/05: I recorded the show and you can now download it from me HERE.]
If you have trouble playing the file in Windows Media Player 10, download this small video player that comes bundled with the .avi codec.
Set your Tivos for the Almost Live! 15th anniversary reunion special on Monday September 15th at 8pm on King5!
From King5.com (which I'm reproducing here because TV news stations are notorious for link breakage):
Almost Live!, the award winning, locally produced sketch comedy show is returning for one night to pay tribute to its 15-year history.
The Almost Live! Reunion Special will include classic characters from the past, as well as new sketches focusing on events that have affected Seattle since the show went off the air in 1999, including WTO and this year’s controversial gubernatorial race.
On hand for the special will be the core cast from the final 10 years, including John Keister, Pat Cashman, Tracey Conway, Nancy Guppy, Bob Nelson, Bill Stainton, Steve Wilson, Joel McHale and Ed Wyatt.
It's the first time the cast has been together in more than six years. The show will also feature a special guest appearance from Bill Nye the Science Guy. Bill will be revisiting the liquid nitrogen experiment that launched his career on Almost Live! as the Science Guy. Expect the experiment to be bigger, wetter and potentially more hazardous.
During its 15 years of production, Almost Live! won well over 100 Emmy awards for writing, producing, acting and directing. Its unique blend of taped segments and live sketches earned the program the prestigious International Iris Award for Best Local Entertainment Program 11 times.

MSNBC.com ran an article today about the increasing amount of shows that target pets instead of kids. I thought Grace was just weird for loving to watch TV but maybe it's not so uncommon.
From the Article:
A survey conducted by the American Kennel Club and Iams Co. found that almost 50 percent of all dogs surveyed showed some interest in the small screen.
“There’s no doubt that television has an ever-increasing animal audience even if their attention span varies from a few minutes to several hours, says animal behaviorist Dr. Nicholas Dodman of the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and author of "If Only They Could Speak."
“The fact they watch proves how visual and thinking animals really are," says Dodman. "Their interest in the small screen has nothing to do with their olfactory senses.
Gracie absolutely LOVES to watch TV and I've wirtten about it on RCS before. She really prefers programs on The Science Channel but she'll watch almost anything, including dramas that don't have many scene changes. In addition to the visuals, she often seems to respond to the audio, slightly flinching when there's a loud boom or doppler style sound effect. Sometimes she'll lay directly behind me with her front paws on my right shoulder and her face just slightly in front of mine. From this vantage point, I can see her eyes track the movement on screen and it's pretty funny to watch her reactions.
Bentley and Ellie don't seem to be that interested in the tube and I don't think Sally is intelligent enough to even know the scenes are changing.
So my question is, do any of your pets watch TV?
