Kirby’s Ramp

Written by Michael on August 29th, 2009

Our male Bassett Hound Kirby, has a mass on his left shoulder/neck that makes it extremely painful for him to walk, especially stairs. I built him this ramp to make it easier to go outside. Grace makes a special guest appearance.

In this video, he’s on 3 different kinds of pain medicationss (he couldn’t even walk the previous two days) but it’s nice to see him be able to go outside on his own.

I came across your blog, and had to tell you I was touched by beautiful Kirby’s story. It’s obvious he was blessed to find you to help him enjoy the last years of his life. Best wishes.

How sweet! I was cracking up when you told Gracie that there was a 100 lb limit on the ramp! Typical Michael humor!

It was nice that you caught Kirby on video though.

I’m so sorry about Kirby – I just had to put my basset down in July due to cancer. Mine was a rescued stray – perhaps they’ll meet in doggie heaven! :)

yours is a very moving story … I don’t know if you’re aware of this web site, but I find it comforting whenever I’ve had to ease the ending of the life of a companion animal … I hope you will as well.
