Priorities

Written by Michael on September 24th, 2007

So, let me get this straight…

Our president will spend $720 million dollars per day or $262 billion per year on the war in Iraq (that figure does not include expenditures in Afghanistan or other countries in the Middle East where we wage our “war on terror”) but will veto a bill to provide healthcare to kids who fall through the Medicare and private health insurance cracks that would cost a mere $7 billion per year?

I’d like any Republican (including family members) to rationalize this decision and tell me how it is in Mr. Bush’s own words “unconscionably irresponsible.”

I normally like to stay away from politics here on RCS, but this in outrageous.

I agree. It is really sad our priorities are so whacked.

The amount being spend on Iraq is a crime. And so much of it is unnaccounted for. Or rather, it is going to huge bonuses for Bush’s cronies, while the American and Iraqi people get nothing.

All you can do is vote. I don’t agree with socialized medicine, but for those who have no alternative (i.e. poor kids) it is the only real solution.

It’s a sad day once again for the lower middle class children whose parents, although working and cannot afford the high cost of insurance, will lose out on medical care because of the current administration’s actions. You already know my feelings about this war. I have been against this war from the very beginning. “This relative” of yours has lost faith in the Repubican party.

    See you next week!
    Love, Ma
