Rain City Story

I’m Dreaming of a Dark Christmas…

Ok, so it turns out that it will be a little longer than expected to get power back. As of noon today, Puget Sound Energy reported 170,500 were still without power, almost all of those in Eastern King County. The latest update can be seen here on the PSE.com site. People back in Ohio that don't believe me can read the Seattle Times article here.

Aside from the neighbors' outrageously loud generators, we are fine. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have a gas fireplace in our bedroom which is ironic because I'd always thought about having that thing ripped out. The dogs and cats have gotten along well though Ellie is tired of just sitting around so she wants out every hour or so. The ambient temperature in the rest of the house is around 45 so she usually wants to come back in pretty fast.

And no, there isn't any baby makin' going on, lol. If anything, we'll strangle each other due to cabin fever! I'm sure she's sick of me leafing through my Linux books and magazines with my dorky looking headlamp!

  1. I have been hearing even on the local news that certain areas were still without power and that they were estimating about 200,000 were without! Man how miserable, Nicki even said “Mike must be going crazy with such restricted access to his electronics!!”
Is Carolyn and Tony doing ok??
    njb

  2. Yeah, Carolyn and Tony are doing fine, they got their power back on Saturday morning and their house wasn’t damaged nearly as bad as their neighbors’. It’s not that bad actually. With the assistance of SSH tunnels, I’m able to get full internet at work (not blocked by some lame proxy) though I miss my Linux machines terribly.

  3. All I can do is laugh :>). I cannot imagine my son without his computer and music. How far do you have to drive to get fast food?
    Love, Ma

  4. VIVA!!! Las Vegas, 59 degrees and sunny, oh ya, and zero power outages.

    Talk to you soon
