Around the second week of October or so, every year, Seattle gets a Pineapple Express. These are huge systems that stretch from the Western Hawaiian Islands to the North Cascades in Washington and bring mild temps, large amounts of rain and some wind. When the system leaves, a cold front comes in marked by very high winds and the temps plummet dramatically. This year was a little different.

The towns of Sultan, Gold Bar, Snoqualmie and Fall City (among many others) saw record breaking flooding the past few days and I managed to get some pictures of the flooding in my home town of Snoqualmie. For my parents, yes, my home was fine. The parents weren’t that good, I was asked to help get some horses on to a transport and my camera got completely soaked along with me. You can see the halfway decent ones in my Flickr Gallery.

It’s been raining non stop for almost 4 days now and I love it. It doesn’t get any better than this. The rain is similar to that seen during the movie The Ring (filmed in Seattle) and according to King5 news, expected to be the most in over a century for this region. Cool!

Back when this site was called “Note To Self” (2001-2003), I had a user account on Textamerica to upload some of my cell phone pics. I was a beta tester for AT&T Wireless and had one of the first camera phones on the market so I already had the hardware. Some good memories here:
