Server Issues 4-6-06
Yeah, my server has been offline quite a bit today. My initial thought was that it was an overheating problem at the data center but further analysis has revealed that Apache is writing everything it does to the error log even if it is able to serve up the file. This is ok for a while until the log reaches a few gigs in size, fills up physical memory, fills up swap, then the machine just locks up hard. This is extremely strange behavior and I have know idea why it just started doing this at 1:08 am last night.
A great way to begin my break, eh.
*sigh*

“There must be some way out of here,” said the joker to the thief”
(please complete the next line)
“There’s too much confusion, I can’t get no relief”
Hmmmm? Jimmie Hendrix? Can’t fool your old mom.

Actually, I did fool my old Mom! This song was written by Bob Dylan in ’66 and originally released on his album John Wesley Harding in December of 1967. Of course the most popular rendition of All Along the Watchtower was probably Jimi’s (though more recently, The Dave Matthews Band) but the song was Dylan’s. Hendrix released his version in ’68 on his album Electric Ladyland and as a single. All Along the Watchtower” was his only top 40 hit.

Let me know if you’re interested in hearing the different versions, they are all quite interesting.
:)
Don’t you just hate smartasses?

Hmm? I should have known I couldn’t outwit my son, but I do come in a close second :). I did not recall Dylan’s version. And, yes, I would like to hear the different versions. I did not realize Dave Matthews had another version out, either. I guess I’m getting rusty.
May 22nd is coming up. Do I need to do anything on my end?
Love, Ma
