My Drive To Work

Ok, this is probably the most pointless post ever but I can't think of anything to write about today. I took this video about a month ago while working on a proof of concept for a video project I'm working on but don't want to talk about just yet. The DV camera is mounted outside on the roof of my Saturn. This video is the route I take from my home garage to my garage in downtown Seattle, mostly on I-90. It's at 30x speed and runs a little over 4 minutes. You can "scrub" or fast forward the video by pulling the slider to the right.

  1. Wow. Only two stop lights in 26 miles! Impressive. Can you include a picture of how the camera is mounted on the car?

  2. Hi Rake, yeah I meant to include a picture of the mount but I need to grab it off my compact flash card. I’ll post it later tonight.

  3. Oh, I did get A LOT of weird looks and two people tried to pull me over to tell me that I had something on top of my car.

  4. Michael, how long is your commute from fall city? seems pretty early in the morning with not trafffic. Nice video….

I have an invitation for the new Messenger Beta 8.0 if you are you want. Let me know

  5. Alfred, it’s 25.923 miles according to my Garmin GPS unit. Traffic isn’t bad if you leave Fall City before 6:40 but leave after that and you’ll run into significant backups on I-90 leaving Issaquah because of all the merging congestion. After that though, it’s smooth sailing all the way to Alaskan Way.

  6. Awesome. And what a beautiful place you live. Sorry I cannot envy you for your commute. :-)
