Epidurals and Cell Phones

Friday, February 28th, 2003

Just received a call from Kell. It’s 3:55 am Tampa time and she sounds pretty coherent considering the epidural and that we were both on cell phones. She said she’s totally relaxed and wished she had an epidural 8 months ago. She’s at 6 and Kiersten is in Zone Zero. I’m not a doctor and I’ve never played one on television but I assume that means that she’ll be giving birth very soon.

Just got a call from mom at 11:01 pm PST saying Kelly is in full blown labor. Mom is catching the first flight out of Dayton in the AM.

Yeah, well I think we should do something about him!

The month of February has come and gone and I only have 767.83 miles to show for it. In fact here are some stats from this month. Time spent on a 2.10 inch saddle: 38 hours, 10 minutes and 43 seconds. Calories burned: 36,903. Body weight lost: 0 pounds.

My goal is 9,000 miles this year with a sub 4 hour 30 minute Flying Wheels Century on June 22. I wanted to do the 168.5 mile RAMROD (Ride Around Mt. Rainier in One Day) this year but I simply can’t afford the $150.00 entry ticket. Not to mention waiting in line forever at the Seattle Bike Expo. I’m aiming for 800 miles in the month of March which shouldn’t be too difficult even if you consider the time I will spend in Florida. Actually, Floriday will be a nice spring break from my training.

I’m not sure about racing yet. I’ll have to see how I stack up against the Saturn of Bellevue elite team in a couple of weeks.

I completely overhauled my bike today. Bottom bracket, new chain, replaced rear deraileur pulleys and installed my new wheels. The thing looks to pretty to ride. The weather is supposed to be in the upper 50’s with no wind tomorrow.

Do you think Mario wants people to know he’s the world champ?

With a Cro-Magnon ridge I am. I got my wheels today but everything else sucked. Yes, it’s true I had the best ride of the year but since it was feuled by rejection and anger, I can hardly be proud of it. But at least I got my wheels. Too bad I can’t afford to put TIRES on them! So they’ll just look pretty in the corner for now.

In time, maybe I’ll speak of what facilitated my fast ride today, but not now. This weekend is pretty booked up already. We’ll be celebrating Gloria’s birthday (Donna’s best friend from Kentucky) and I have some math and BITS stuff to work on. Plus, Amy and I would like to see the Itellectual Thriller Old School starring Saturday Night Live alum Will Ferrel. Oh, and I’ll spend some time drooling on my new wheels.

No baby yet. Looks like she’ll be a March baby. I got my new wheels.

Gas Prices in Seattle

This is from AJ in my IT class. I paid $2.09 yesterday so I guess this is not far off.
