The Pug Screensaver

pug flash screen saver

About a month ago, I found a Flash movie on the Internet with a pug licking a window that makes it look like he's licking your computer monitor.  I put it up there and sent out a little joke e-mail to family advising them to use my new screen cleaning technology.

The Googlebot got a hold of it and someone searched my site for "dog screen savers".  A few days later and I'm getting over 1,000 hits a day.  A few days after that, I'm getting a few e-mails everyday asking if I could turn this into a screen saver.  The file was a .swf flash file so it took me a while to figure out how to convert it without forking over $50 for some crappy shareware that I'd only use once.   Google was spammed to death with this crap so I turned to Microsoft's Live Search and lo and behold, there was a free webservice to do exactly what I wanted.  It's called Creamshavers and they will convert any .swf file into a Windows screen saver for free.

If you're interested in using this as a Windows 98/2000/XP/Vista screen saver, download the executable from me HERE.   It will open a basic Windows installer and when it's done, the pug will be your default screen saver.  If you don't already have it installed, the installer will ask you to install the standalone Adobe Shockwave player which is free.

Please e-mail me if you have any problems or questions.

Nice screensaver, I was directed to your site from Leo Laporte (The Tech Guy) Twitter entry yesterday, looked all over and couldn't find it. Just happened to think of it today and lo and behold you did it.

Pretty funny, I wonder what they smeared on the glass to get him to lick it?

what a better way is there, than to clean the screen with a soft cloth daily with a smile?

I found the Pug screen cleaner, as well as a Cat screen cleaner in a screensaver download. No ads, no pop ups, just fills your screen with the Pug or Cat whichever you choose. Find it at:

Anyone else with Vista having problems running this? It keeps telling me that I need to install Shockwave, directs me to the site, I download and install it, and still get the error. Do I need to downgrade from Shockwave 11 to 10? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To those of you who had an error telling you download shockwave 10, the solution is (surprise?) to download and install shockwave 10.

The problem is that the error dialog box takes you to the download page for shockwave 11, which doesn't seem to work.

http://www.brothersoft.com/shockwave-player-61546.html <- is where I found it, since adobe makes older versions of their shockwave very difficult or impossible to find on their website.

I will tell you that are no viruses or other junk bundled with it, but do the smart thing anyway and scan it before you decide to install.

I hope this helps.
